Most business owners, especially those with rapidly growing businesses have far too many tasks on their plates. How do they juggle all the priorities? It seems that the only way is to either delegate or to simply drop some of the tasks. Here’s a way to look at dropping tasks and get more leverage on your time.

Eliminate it.

Each day, take a look at each of your scheduled tasks and decide if the world will stop if you don’t do it. If the answer is no, just don’t do it.

Lower your standards.

I can almost hear the cries of pain! However if you do lower your standards for certain activities you can redefine completion. For example do you really need to respond to every e-mail from customers and staff, or is it enough to simply read the important ones. Many are sent simply to keep you informed.

Guard your time

This is about setting reasonable expectations for yourself. For example, instead of working every weekend, guard your weekends jealously. Spend the time with family or doing things you love. If you do this, you will find you are unable to complete everything you did before. This will force you to drop, delegate or redefine completion.
